Fashion Modeling in MTL

Who can think of a better way to promote The Backroom, its new look and image, to Montreal, then through a high school charity event. A night filled with prizes, activities and shows, the event was a huge success for the students, school as well as The Backroom. Closing the show, we were proud to show off our urban street style to the audience, and make people realize that vintage up-cycled clothing can fit and look great on any age, size and color.

The fashion show took place at Marie Victorin College in the East End of Montreal. Although taking place at the College, the event was organized and put together for Jean-Groulx High School. Working with children aged 12-19 was a real experience, considering The Backroom target market is usually older. Nonetheless, to our surprise, the models looked great in the outfits we styled, and worked the runway to their greatest ability. Image

On the subject of fashion modeling, auditions took place on Thursday, June 13, for Festival Mode Design, an annual modeling event that occurs every summer in Montreal. Working in the fashion world, The Backroom hit the streets and got a glimpse of what the models had to offer. From long legs to 12 packs, fierce walks to bent backs, we saw it all. However, some models worked the runway and really knew how to captivate the attention of both the judges and the audience. Image

This gets us asking, what makes for a good and fierce model? From what we've seen, it takes nothing but strength, charisma and independence. Being comfortable in your skin and working the runway can be done by people of all ages, sizes and colors, with just a bit of power and integrity.
